ICON Nutrition’s ZMA® is a pure grade SNAC labs approved formula. Have you seen a ZMA product on the market without the registered symbol (®)? Be wary; it isn’t the trusted and original formula backed with peer-reviewed clinical research. Don’t be fooled by names like “ZMA Hardcore” either. These just contain extra ingredients that are not backed with credible scientific data and may not work as synergistically well as the patented formula we use. Here at ICON Nutrition we stick with what the research says.

ZMA® is an advanced formula specifically designed to improve a person's recovery between exercise. Scientific data shows that strenuous exercise and stress result in body losses of zinc and magnesium. ZMA® helps replenish these important lost minerals in a single serving.

Zinc, magnesium and aspartate (or ZMA) is basically a night time supplement that improves sleep efficiency. ICON Nutrition’s pure grade ZMA® formula helps promote deeper REM sleep cycles. This in turn improves workout recovery times as people who are sleep deprived tend not to recover as efficiently as those that experience good deep REM sleeping patterns.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that those that supplement with ZMA tend to stay in a dream state for longer and may experience more very cool lucid dreams.

Each serving of ICON Nutrition’s ZMA® contains 1500mg of pure grade ZMA®, 200% higher than many leading brands. If you want to maximise recovery and have deeper restful sleep cycles you should consider giving ICON's ZMA® formula a try.

The zinc part of ZMA is so important, particularly for people that exercise. Low zinc in men can have a range of negative effects such as: impairing testosterone production; putting men at a higher risk of developing prostate cancer; cause infertility and decrease libido.

Females can benefit from zinc too.

Women also need zinc as well as men. Having an adequate amount of zinc in women supports reproductive health. Zinc is associated with the growth of the oocyte. If women are zinc deficient then the oocyte (or egg) won’t grow properly and mature which can result in infertility.

Zinc also boosts our immune system through the production in more T cells which help the body’s immune system fight back when viruses or challenges to health arise. A zinc deficiency can cause a fast decline in T cell function.
Zinc can also help with improving blood circulation through maintaining the health of cardiovascular cells and the endothelium. Low zinc can also be attributed to high cholesterol and inflammation. These two things can have a direct impact on your risk of heart disease.

The more popular benefit of zinc is its antioxidant properties. Zinc helps target free radicals that cause inflammation.

Zinc also helps remove toxins from the body and thus helps keep the body healthy. Diseases such as Alzheimer’s is accelerated by heavy metal build up in the brain. Supplementing with zinc via ZMA can help remove these toxins.

Magnesium has some kick ass benefits and you’ll be surprised just how many important functions it plays in the body.

Magnesium is critical for fat metabolism and therefore production of testosterone. Research also shows that with adequate magnesium intake this can increase your growth hormone and IGF-1 levels. Our bodies need magnesium for protein synthesis to happen. In the research literature there is a positive correlation with magnesium levels and lean tissue growth rates (protein synthesis).

If you’re working out then your tissues are more likely to get inflamed and suffer from oxidative stress. Studies have shown that a magnesium deficiency leads to increased inflammation in the body. It is this inflammation which causes issues to our blood vessels and intestinal tissues.

Magnesium also helps build stronger bones by activating the path way in the body that converts vitamin D into its active form, which helps with calcium absorption rates and bone building.

Through helping with the regulation of glucose, insulin sensitivity, cortisol reduction, decreasing inflammation and facilitating protein synthesis, magnesium therefore has a positive impact on fat reduction, particularly around the middle abdominal fat.

Low levels of magnesium can result in a build up of lactic acid which can be quite painful and prevent you from pushing as hard as you want to during exercise. More magnesium therefore helps reduce muscle spams and tightness.

Magnesium also supports a healthy immune system. Low immunity can prevent optimal recovery after you exercise. This is caused by the body focusing on immune system repair over muscle repair post-exercise.

And lastly, magnesium is said to play a major part in ATP production, the universal currency of energy within the human body. In fact, without magnesium it is not possible for the body to produce adenosine tri-phosphate (ATP).

As you can see, the main elements that make up ZMA are hugely important and have countless benefits. Try supplementing with ZMA for a month and let us know if you feel its benefits. We're pretty sure you'll be coming back for more ZMA again and again.
